Jonathan Roumie portrays Jesus on The Chosen, an online TV series about Jesus and His disciples. Jonathan is a Catholic on a show that is written / directed by protestants. I’ve always wondered how the show would play the Last Supper – as you know Catholics understand ordinary bread and wine become the ‘True Presence’, or Jesus Himself in Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity.
At the Eucharistic Congress ongoing today in Indianapolis, Jonathan is a featured speaker. It just so happened this week The Chosen series is now filming season five and this very week they did scenes from the Last Supper!
Jonathan reflects here on the experience playing Jesus, and the words of John, chapter 6, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.” and “The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.” – John 6:53 and 63.
